Tabbie is a personal and travel expense-splitting bookkeeping app. We take your privacy seriously.
What we collect
We (the developer) do not collect, transmit, or receive any of your personal data or bookkeeping data.
Tabbie has no server of its own, no account system, and no analytics or third-party tracking.
Where your data lives
The data you enter (amounts, categories, accounts, transactions, split groups, etc.) is stored only locally on your device.
If you are signed in to iCloud and enable sync, your data is backed up to your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) for syncing across your own devices. This data is held by Apple under its terms and is not accessible to the developer.
Permissions
Camera: used only to scan e-invoice QR codes and photograph paper receipts, to auto-fill amount and date. Image and text recognition happen entirely on your device; images are not uploaded or stored. When you pick a receipt photo from your library, the app receives only the photo you choose.
Location: used only when you log an entry, to determine your current country for the "travel footprint" feature. The coordinates are passed to Apple's built-in geocoding service to look up the country (an iOS system feature, governed by Apple's privacy policy); the developer never receives your location, and it is never sent to any other third party. Declining the permission never blocks logging.
Network
The app connects to the network only in the cases below, and none of them hands your bookkeeping data to the developer (we have no server that could receive it):
Exchange rates: public rates fetched from a third-party rates service. This request contains none of your personal data or bookkeeping content.
Country lookup: if you grant location access, the coordinates are resolved to a country by Apple's geocoding service (see "Permissions" above).
iCloud sync: if you enable backup, your data syncs between your devices and your own iCloud (Apple CloudKit).
Purchases & subscriptions: handled by Apple's App Store.
Purchases & Subscriptions
Tabbie Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or receive your payment information (card numbers, etc. are handled entirely by Apple). Your subscription and redemption status is stored only locally on your device. Apple may provide the developer with anonymized, aggregated sales statistics under its own terms; these contain no information that personally identifies you.
Children
This app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
